The Badjao people live along the shorelines of the Philippine’s most southern islands. Often referred to as ‘water gypsies’ – the Badjao live not only at the water’s edge but on the edge of Philippine society. These Badjao houses – without doors or windows - reflect the tropical lifestyle of the Philippine’s most southern island of Tawi Tawi. In their native tongue Tawi Tawi means “…far, far away.”
