In Hawaii, Maui is famous for its onions. There is a certain sweetness to them that does seem to make them unique. They also make a good still life. This light colored Maui onion was paired with garlic and a dark red onion and illuminated by light from our kitchen window. Like much in Hawaii, everyday things that are common on the mainland seem to take on a more exotic hue.
