This image captured a moment late in the day in October. An autumn afternoon when the sun seems to resist its setting and hesitates for us briefly. The Bristol Ferry was docked and the fishing boats were at rest on a Sunday the latitude provided the precious clear light one finds in northern climes. This restful setting belies the no-nonsense work of this fishing port and the bustle and clamor of work aboard fishing vessels. It was a joy to paint and is owned by a dear friend of mine.
