In the modern age, our perspectives are broadened by our increasing awareness of the human experience worldwide. We read, see, and hear a wild and dizzying number of stories and events that come to us in slices of time. But ‘From a Distance’ – as the Julie Gold song reminds us – intersections and patterns appear from which we can draw bigger conclusions about the course of our species on the planet. The resonance between the color opposites of blue and orange and the overlapping symmetry suggested in the composition encourage us to think that there is perhaps a positive if not purposeful arc to the human story.
