We lived on the edge of Pearl Harbor and were fortunate enough to live in a historical home that was used for several years as pilot’s quarters for the Pan Am seaplanes. The house was first owned by Japanese-American Dr. Uyehara. A stone shrine and kanji laden iron gates still stand near the large green mango tree that dropped nearly 100 mangos a day in season.
